Last week I found myself on one Northern Ireland’s most beautiful beaches, for a day of family SUP lessons. I don’t know about you, but SUP’ing makes me incredible hungry. So hungry that I’d end up eating whatever’s put in front of me. Thankfully we were in Harry’s Shack after our SUP lesson. We knew we were in for a real treat, because our SUP instructor told us so. Also, if a restaurant is full it’s a good sign. When we stopped the car to ask for directions, the friendly passer-by said, “you won’t get a table in there today, it’s out the door!”. Little did she know we had a reservation so we were guaranteed our feed.
Suitable for Coeliacs
All the grub on offer in the shack is flavourful and extremely enjoyable. Although the menu is small, there’s plenty of choice when it comes to gluten-free options. Coeliacs will be glad to hear that most of the dishes on the menu can be catered to diners with a gluten intolerance. Just let your server know of your dietary requirements and they’ll be more than happy to advise you.
After an exhilarating morning of stand up paddle boarding my belly was rumbling. Starters, mains and a dessert were in order. Since Harry’s Shack is by the seaside, if felt like seafood was the right choice. Crispy squid, a steaming pot of mussels and fresh fish coated in a gluten-free batter were the perfect combination for the table. If you’re not a fan of seafood the hot soup with warm sourdough bread, sticky chicken wings and loaded burger are also a good choice.

Overall, we had a positive dining experience. Everything was fresh and delicious and we would definitely look to visit again. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even giving us a sample of the salted caramel ice cream before we made our final decision on the dessert.
