Fancy a steak dinner that won’t break the bank?

Well you’re in luck, because Dillinger’s in Ranelagh have announced that Wednesdays are now, “Steak Wednesdays”. And what’s more they’re offering their new menu at the savage price of €21 all night long!

I was invited along to the launch, and couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into some juicy cuts of meat.

Dillinger's Rhubarb flip cocktail

Rhubarb Flip

The Chicago born cocktail uses rhubarb and rosemary to delicious effect.

Dillingers Strawberry Switchblade

Summer cocktails are back on the menu at Dillinger’s and nothing says summer more than rhubarb and strawberry cocktails.

I kicked things off with a tequila based, Strawberry Switchblade garnished with floating cracked pepper. The pepper added a kick of spice, to the sweet strawberry flavour.

After some cocktails and chats, it was time to channel my carnivorous side and dig into some delicious cuts of meat.

I don’t know if there’s anything more tasty than a good steak and I got to sample all three cuts on the night. Each cut was succulent and delicious, but if I had to order just one, I think it would have to be the Hanger for me.

The long, relatively thin cut known as hanger steak or the “butcher’s steak, was seasoned with a mixture of flavours. It was crispy on the outside and tender and succulent on the inside. There was no need for any added sauces, each bite was perfectly seasoned.

Pear & Apple Crumble

Creme anglaise, pistachio ice cream & brittle €7

Dessert is not included in the deal, but I’m a sucker for something sweet after my main course. I opted for the Pear & Apple Crumble. The pastry was perfect, as my fellow foodie, Niamh (Gourmet Grazing) mentioned, there were no “soggy bottoms’ in sight. The base had a super-crisp crust and the brittle was simply scrumptious.

Dillingers Ranelagh

Bread & Butter Pudding

Dolce de leche, vanilla whipped cream €7
