On Easter Monday 6th April 2015, the Grand National and Ladies day took place at Fairyhouse racecourse. I was one of 10 lucky bloggers invited by Ladbrokes to take part in this year’s most stylish lady competition. With the theme of the day being ‘Elegantly Irish’ we were challenged to incorporate subtle Irish designs into our outfits, Vogue Williams and Leitrim milliner Jennifer Wrynne were the judges on the day.
The fascinator I upstyled myself!
The fabulous team over in Cari’s Closet Malahide supplied me with a beautiful Mac Duggal dress which I thought resembled an Irish Dancing dress – keeping within the theme.
Unfortunately, I didn’t make it into the top ten best dressed, however one of my fellow bloggers Laura of StyleSavvy.ie made the cut and represented the Irish Bloggers up on stage with Vouge Williams – you go girl!
As a self-confessed foodie it’s only right that I fill you in on what I had to eat for the day!
Starter
Ballantine of Atlantic salmon with beetroot and apple jelly, pickled cucumber, horseradish and dill cream and Guinness Bread
Soup
Wild mushroom and truffle soup with cracked black pepper olive crostini crouton
Main
Pan fried chicken supreme, rissoto and potted cream spinach Madeira sauce
Dessert
Duo chocolate plate including milk chocolate creme, chocolate macaroon with fresh strawberries and chocolate paint
In case that didn’t fill us, we were then served Afternoon Tea – don’t mind if I do!
The famous green and gold of JP McManus the horse owner. Sadly I didn’t come home any richer, number 5 let me down big time and fell at the last hurdle. Thanks for nothin’ JP – but taking into account everything he does for charity I’ll let him away with it!
On the upside I made lots of new blogger buddies @DitaTime @StyleSavvy_ie @meiling_t @TMCM_Ireland @lornajaneduffy
The entire event was absolutely fantastic, the sun was beaming down all day, the wine was flowing and Ladbrokes treated us to an unforgettable day. Ladies Day just might be my new thang…. watch this space!
